Producer: Based in Ponte, near Benevento, this family-owned producer celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010. The grandson of the original founder has run the business since the 1970s alongside winemaker Luigi Pastore, whose own son Nicola heads up marketing and export. They pioneered organic viticulture in the area, starting in 1984, and remain one of the most innovative Campanian wine producers.
Vineyard: This Falanghina is hand-picked from southwest-facing tufa slopes 300 metres above sea level. The grapes were grown organically and harvested by hand.
Winery: A brief maceration was followed by fermentation in stainless steel vats at 18°C. The wine was bottled early to preserve freshness and aroma.
Nose: A captivating apricot aroma leaps from the glass, followed by elderflower and nettle notes.
Palate: The palate is round yet vibrant, combining richness of texture with complex, verdant flavours.
Food Pairing: Falanghina pairs outstandingly with shellfish, such as prawns or shrimps. It is also an ideal partner to fritto di pesce, the salty and tasty "mixed fry" of fish one can buy from street vendors in Naples.
