The Sorrento Lemon is a highly regarded lemon variety whose popularity outside of the United States. At the turn of the twentieth century Sorrento lemons were sold individually and could only be handled by people who had to wear cotton gloves to handle them
FLAVOUR
The Sorrento lemon has a very strong bitter distinctive taste, which sets it apart from the other types. Lemons are tart and tend to taste astringent, but they can be combined with other flavours or sugar to produce a pleasant flavour
SIZE AND WEIGHT
An average lemon weighs approximately 3 to 4 ounces, depending on the size. It is usually the size of a tennis ball

The Sorrento lemon is an oval shape fruit with tapered ends
SKIN COLOUR AND CHARACTERISTIC
Usually a bright coloured yellow with a medium tick peel. Sometime it has a green flowage depending on the type of lemon. Between all the citrus based fruits the Sorrento lemon has a very strong bitter distinctive taste which sets it apart from the other types
FLESH COLOUR AND CHARACTERISTIC
The Sorrento Lemon has a lemon drop yellow and highly fragrant. The pulp is translucent yellow in colour and yields a large quantity of semi acidic juice. The flesh is very low in seeds and often seedless.
PICKING PERIOD
It is a tardy fruit so that although it is produced on the tree all year round, the best fruits are obtained from spring to the end of autumn, which therefore means the fruit will be at their best and taste great.
AVAILABILITY
Sorrento lemons are harvested all year round with a peak season from spring to late fall
DISTINCTIVE FEATURES
The leading acid citrus fruit, because of its very appealing colour, odour and flavour. It's an excellent source of vitamin C one of the most important antioxidants in nature as well as anti cancer properties.
STORAGE
Sorrento Lemons will keep up to two weeks in the refrigerator.
HOW TO ENJOY THEM
The Sorrento Lemon can be used either for eating, and drinking. Lemonade is an obvious candidate for lemons but there are many other lemon drink possibilities. Lemons add moisture, flavour and tang to many dishes. They can also be used to prevent premature browning of some cut foods, when the juice is sprinkled over food such as apples, potatoes and bananas.
Sorrento Lemons can be used in Cheesecakes, chicken, fish and pasta and is great in preserves.
